The Left Thinks We Have Forgotten Who We Are

The Left frequently uses four tactics at which it is has become quite adept.

The first is changing the name, not the substance, of troublesome programs or organizations. So, for example, global warming became climate change.

The second is saying one thing and doing another. Democrats say they support racial equality and social justice, but it was the Democrat Party that held the longest filibuster in American history, 75 days, to try and stop passage of the 1964 Civil Rights Act.

The third is shifting the conversation to its opponents’ actions rather than taking responsibility for its own. The current Homeland Security elevated threat level is but a continued deflection from the Left’s illegal assault on the U.S. election process that led to the inauguration of Joe Biden.

The fourth tactic is over-generalization, to identify an alleged threat then throw anyone and everyone into that category whether rightful or not. I call it the “Chicken Little — Sky is Falling” tactic. It is this tactic that is being used to censor, de-platform, silence and even round-up Trump supporters, or anyone remotely standing for the Bill of Rights and the Constitution.

Here is how it works.

The Left has stated that the country is at risk for violence from domestic terrorism. A domestic terrorist, by the Left’s definition, is anyone who does not support the Left’s political agenda. Whether it be climate, finance, domestic or foreign policy matters, opposition to the Left is seen as a threat to the safety and well-being of the nation. This is the “sky is falling” tactic.

But its more than a matter of simply not supporting the policies of the Left. In reality, its anyone who has another idea or perspective about any policy the Left puts forth. Furthermore, and more insidious, its anyone who even dares to articulate a different viewpoint or opinion.

While such generalization is both ludicrous and without merit, it does simplify the end game. It makes the Left’s marginalizing, censoring, de-platforming, and rounding-up of its political adversaries an allegedly necessary act in the name of national security.

But tyranny by any other name is still tyranny.

Putting aside claims of voter fraud for the moment, about one half of the country voted for the Democratic candidate for President. But I wonder if they were voting for him, voting against Trump, or voting with the hope of ending the relentless, and daily, back and forth between the media and the President. After all, we were all tired of it, irrespective of party affiliation.

Regardless of why those people voted for Biden, I wonder if they thought about what their vote would get them. Because what their vote has gotten them is a war against the other half of the country. A war much more dangerous than the one the media waged against Donald Trump.

The war now being waged by the Left is to silence those voices which would otherwise cause us to think things through.

National politics and policy making is not so different from your own personal relationships. When friends tell you only what you want to hear, those are not your real friends. Their platitudes never cause you to question your own opinions. Those people are sycophants, who seek your favor in one form or another. Real friends are those who not only offer up different viewpoints, but by so doing challenge you to question your own. Their opposition makes you either more assured of what you stand for or, causes you to modify what you stand for because their opposition becomes the impetus for you to re-evaluate and grow.

The Left’s war on thought and speech is because it seeks neither re-evaluation nor growth. Its wants to impose upon each of us its beliefs, priorities, and political agenda. Every independent thinker, every independent voice is a direct threat to the Left’s race to suppress and silence the unearthing of Truth.

Now is not the time to be weary although we are all tired.

Now is time to hold fast to one principle. The principle that is set forth as a right in the Bill of Rights. Now is the time to stand for freedom of speech. Now is the time to stand because, as German Lutheran Pastor Eric Bonhoeffer so eloquently wrote, “Not to stand is to stand. Not to speak is to speak.”

To allow the bullying and misuse of power by the Left to prevail through intimidation is to forget that we Americans come from varied but tough stock. Next to life itself, we value our liberty and stand now and forever for our right to be heard.
